Concord, NH - NHGOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek released the following statement after New Hampshire Democrat Legislators unified against Granite Staters to urge Schumer and Senate to pass S.1, the so-called "For the People" Act, undermining state lead election laws:

"These legislators should be ashamed. When a State Representative or Senator takes the oath of office, they first swear to uphold New Hampshire’s Constitution and our state laws - a key part of which is our first-in-the-nation primary status. For over a century, Democrats and Republicans have worked united in preserving our historic primary, and long-standing Secretary of State (and Democrat) Bill Gardner has repeatedly denounced H.R1 for the damage it will do to our FITN primary. For these legislators to abdicate their duties in support of a Federal overhaul of NH elections is to be aligned with the likes of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden over their own constituents. This is an embarrassing sentiment for NH Democrats whose first and foremost loyalty should be to Granite Staters, NOT power hungry D.C democrats."
