Democrat Income Tax

Concord, NH - NHGOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek released the following statement as New Hampshire Democrats hold events across the state peddling their income tax, Senate Bill 1, to Granite Staters:

“New Hampshire Democrats are continuing their road show to push an income tax on Granite State families and workers. Senate Bill 1 is a deeply flawed piece of legislation that Dan Feltes rushed through the legislative process, but is currently playing games with to keep it off the Governor’s desk. What was the rush of passing such a major piece of legislation through both chambers by early March when Democrat leadership is keeping it from getting to Governor Sununu? Senate Bill 1 is a disastrous income tax that replaces market driven options with an inferior government program. The effort to create an income tax is just the latest example of New Hampshire Democrat legislators turning to the far-left policies coming straight out of Washington. Granite Staters have spoken loud and clear that they do not want an income tax. This mandatory, unsustainable Democrat plan pales in comparison to Governor Sununu’s superior voluntary paid family medical leave plan, and the people of New Hampshire don’t want this Democrat income tax to become law.”
